I have been very occupied the last few days and therefor has not been able to give an update on the TGA and other new topics of interest. But first let me address some news from SDNU TGA.

[b]The Broken Shield news

I would like to thank my friend Jetty for eloquently reported an incident whereby the Deputy Minister arrived earlier then the President of SDNU. The slip up was not as a result of poor organization. It is attributed to a communication mistake made by a third party to the President. The SDNU president has apologised to his good personal friend, the Deputy Minister and all is well. Some people may like to take this opportunity to bash the SDNU President and we think that is fair feed back because that is what actually happen.

Supreme Executive Council Members
We have EIGHT new faces: Edward Awan, Thony Badak, Rosey, Celia, Stephen Das, Stephen Rom, Maj Moses, Joshua Jabeng except for Maj Moses all are from the private sector and businessmen.

We would like to thank all former SEC members, Uncle William langgong, Thedeaus Ling, Capt Meran, Micheal Tinggi, Dorin, Monica, Agnes, for their hard work and good effort. SDNU will continue to need their support and leadership as SDNU has many activities that is required to be roll out in the next three years.

SDNU formed since 1957
SDNU has seen many years as a premier Dayak organization and has gone through many changes in leadership. What remain true is it has been able to weather the storms in its journey to provide leadership to maintain the “social fabric” of Dayak. It challenges includes political interferences and personal patronage by individuals and it has prevail in good standing and is more healthy.

SDNU Distractor
Even in this blog we see Dayak who wanted SNU to fail without realizing the implication to the Dayak should SDNU fail and they do it without conscience. Meaning, the distractor do not even care and appreciate that SDNU is a platform for dayak to develop and preserve its culture and ADAT.

When SDNU is labeled as “political organization” we can assumed that they are some people outside of SDNU who felt that SDNU is a threat to Dayak political leadership. This is where we must examine ourselves. Do politician need to work against a Dayak NGO like SDNU or should the political leaders work with SDNU to enhance certain aspect of dayak development and identity.

SDNU Support
In this respect, Dato Sri William Mawan recognised the role of SDNU in the development of Dayak and what it stands for and also other leaders like Datuk Joseph Salang, Dato Sri Celestine Ujang, Dato Sri Daniel Tajem, Dato Sri Edmund Langgu, Puan Sri Empiang, Datuk Linggi Jugah, Tan Sri leo Moggie etc has assisted SDNU in many ways. Tan Sri Jabu has given SDNU urban land for its buildings and also grave yard land.

It is those who are in experience and a thorough lack of knowledge of the working of SDNU that view SDNU as a political entity. I do hope now they will be effectively educated on the background of SDNU struggle for the Dayak.

SDNU Future
SDNU future will lies on strengthening the Dayak ADAT with the possibility of pushing for a Supreme Native court as provided by the Federal Constitution. It may be a possibility SDNU can be made into an institution to appoint and issue instrument of authority based on Dayak ADAT to Tuai Rumah and Dayak Community Leaders.

When we have the Dayak ADAT put in its right place, then Dayak would be more secured when govern using Dayak ADAT. That will make our community strong as Dayak Culture should be used to bring unity to Dayak.

Dayak may even go further to claim BORNEO as Dayak land by branding Borneo as the origin of Dayak. That would give Dayak a special place in this world. A special place where Borneo at one time is known for its spices and medicine will one day takes its rightful place as supplier of natural herbal medicine to contribute to a healthier world.

The Dayak dances and songs will contribute colours to the world cultural heritage and also a very important part of the genesis of civilization in the world.
